Little Seed: A Life, Book Review

Little Seed: A Life
by Callie Grant

Callie Grant’s lovely board book for children, Little Seed: A Life, is beautifully illustrated with simple and engaging text that teaches kids how God makes things grow.  More than that even, she writes, “But God gave Little Seed everything it needed….” and that’s such a sweet reminder of how God provides what we need even when it seems like the winter cold of life has set in.  Yes, I learned from this book, too.littleseed

The story follows one simple seed that falls to the ground on a fall day.  It tells the story of the seed through all the seasons until it blooms in the fullness of the summer and drops its own seeds on the ground the following autumn.

Kids will likely love the story itself and each page’s text is short enough to hold even a young child’s attention.  It’s great for teaching about how things grow while integrating Biblical lessons of God’s providential care and creation. I’m planning on placing a copy in my daughter’s preschool classroom for them to use when they learn about growing.  The pictures are also colorful and eye-catching.

Overall, Graham Blanchard calls this a Praise Book and it really does give children and adults alike a reason to praise!

I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
