Close as a Breath
by Callie Grant
Any mom with a preschooler knows what it’s like to answer their questions about the world, about life, about you, about God….about everything! So, I loved Callie Grant’s board book, Close as a Breath, and the way it teaches children about God by following a little girl asking her Dad questions.
The text on each page is short and has such a sweet and simple rhyme to it. It’s not in-your-face rhyming like Dr. Seuss. It’s more like the words just roll off the tongue rhythmically and poetically almost like a song.
After the girl in the story asks questions about air, the leaves changing colors, and water turning to ice, the father gives the ultimate lesson, “You can’t see God or grasp Him but you know that He’s there. His love and His power are alive everywhere.” It’s a great lesson for kids and their parents to read and discuss together.
I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
